These are methods to redirect our thinking. It can distract us from overwhelming thoughts. They can help calm our heads while pondering over simple things. You can find a few of these strategies below.
“5 4 3 2 1” Method
Name 5 things you see
Name 4 things you feel
Name 3 things you hear
Name 2 things you smell
Name 1 thing you taste

Size Increasing Method
Find a small item you can see. Name an item larger than the previous, then name another item larger than the previous, and so on. Do so until you get to ten items, or until you can’t do so anymore.

Colors Method
Name something you see that is the color red
Name something you see that is the color orange
Name something you see that is the color yellow
Name something you see that is the color green
Name something you see that is the color blue
Name something you see that is the color purple
ABC Method
Name items in the room that start with the letters A-Z
